The name for this municipality, Loria, comes from the Via Aurelia, the Roman road that went from Padova to Asolo, a sign of how much this area is truly steeped in history.
In 1754, the village of Loria went through a very strange natural phenomenon. Fires broke out spontaneously all through the city and burned down over 80 houses and cottages. Unlike most naturally starting fires, which typically burn out relatively quickly, the fires in Loria burned through all the Spring months. Such scholars and academics as Scipione Maffei, a famous Italian writer and scholar of the time, dedicated a lot of time trying to find a rational explanation for the phenomenon.
In the last thirty years Loria has undergone a significant transformation, going from a decidedly farm-based civilization to an industrial society.
