Meduna di Livenza
The regions Veneto and Friuli (full name Friuli-Venezia Giulia) are divided by a municipal border set along the Livenza river. Among the towns lying along the river is Meduna di Livenza.
The history of this town further confirms the context of it being so close to the Friuli region, dating back to when the Patriarchate of Aquileia (a Friuli town) built an outpost and castle here at the beginning of the 11th century. With the Livenza river so close, the area has always been very vulnerable to natural disasters as well as attacks and the town has been both raided and flooded throughout its history.
Today Meduna di Livenza is now an ideal point of departure to explore this splendid river. The water is navigable through long tracts of the town and features views of nature very deep in the forest. This ecosystem features brown trout, gray fish, crab, crayfish, woodpeckers, red herons and cormorants.
