THE GREAT WAR AT MASER
The area was garrisoned by groups of artillerymen, because of its strategic position: it afforded an ideal situation to position guns. For effective firing it was necessary to erect a complex system of observatories and supplies that still today can be seen, near Forcella Mostacin; on Monte Collalto we have the French “Tazzer” observatory while on Monte Sulder there is the “Morocco” Observatory.
In the town centre in memory of the soldiers there is a Monument to the Fallen, designed and executed by the sculptor Angelo Rosseto from Maser, who had his own ordeal during the Great War.
