High Trail TV1
... an extraordinary journey through history, cuisine and nature
Few people know that in the Province of Treviso there is a path that will take hikers from Mount Grappa to the Cansiglio Forest in a week. It stretches out for more than 120 km, with elevation gain of 7,000 metres.
There are many interesting features along this route, which is known as the Alta Via delle Prealpi Trevigiane (High Road of the Treviso Alpine Foothills). Firstly, it goes through 3 groups of mountains with completely different characteristics: Grappa, where vivid traces of the Great War can still be seen; Cesen – Visentin, with its ancient cheese making tradition that will win over even the most demanding of palates; and Cansiglio, with its vast forest that was a precious source of wood used by the Republic of Venice to make its oars.
Then there is the constantly unfolding landscape on the peaks, with views reaching as far as the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, and the fact that the path can be followed in the early and late parts of the season, when the traditional Alte Vie are impracticable.
Finally, there is its unquestionable technical value, with the possibility of organizing trips lasting one or more days.
