Spring shoots
Amidst asparagus, herbs and strawberries, spring blossoms in the Marchlands of Treviso which, in this season of joyous rebirth, shows the most cheerful and amorous side of its nature. Starting from the end of March, it gradually becomes less cold and right up to the month of May a constellation of little villages will be animated by this food and wine show.
The exhibitions that take part in "Spring Shoots" are concentrated in the areas dedicated to the cultivation of the White Asparagus PGI of Cimadolmo, in the area along the river Piave, and to the cultivation of the Asparagus PGI of Badoere, in the area along the river Sile.
The asparagus may well have the leading role in this calendar of events but it certainly is not the only product that is celebrated. The menus of restaurants, and not only, all around Treviso are brightened up, not to say made more cheerful with the red of the strawberries and sweet little wild herbs – and those who are visiting the area will certainly not be disappointed with the wide variety of dishes that are offered traditionally during this period.
Food enthusiasts and tourists in search of occasions to sample these precious products that represent the oeno-gastronomical traditions of these parts have for years marked this collection of shows on their calendar of events not to be missed. For the entire period of the shows, special tours are organized in collaboration with local restaurants with specific menus based on asparagus and typical recipes. Most fortunately for visitors, the same period of these exhibitions associated with food all following one another, overlaps with that of another important exhibition of this area, that is dedicated to our production of sparkling wine, loved in Italy but more and more also abroad: La Primavera del Prosecco or the 'Spring of Prosecco'.
